Duluth's Lincoln Park Is Open for Business
Published: July 29, 2010
Duluth's Lincoln Park Business Group and Duluth Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) hosted MetroEdge in early July 2010 for a presentation of key findings from a retail and market analysis of the Lincoln Park neighborhood, Superior Street and Michigan Street corridors and the Clyde Park complex including the Duluth Heritage Sports Center.
According to Jake Cowan of LISC MetroEdge, “Over the past six-months, we’ve focused on identifying market opportunities and challenges in Lincoln Park’s business district’s main corridors, and how to support or expand existing businesses and to attract new businesses to the market.”
The retail scan reflects a series of key customer groups including local residents, the 5,200 who are coming into the community for work and the thousands coming to play or view hockey games.
“A goal of this work is to provide business and community leaders with the information that would increase the likelihood that those coming to work or play would take advantage of other opportunities to dine or shop.”
Funding for the MetroEdge research study is provided by Duluth LISC through a grant from State Farm Insurance. This report is part of Duluth LISC’s At Home in Duluth Sustainable Communities initiative, which addresses five quality of life factors: Developing, preserving and investing in housing and other real estate; Increasing Family income and wealth; Simulating economic activity; Improving access to quality education; and Fostering safe, livable and healthy environments.
